Using the source photos that I took in the States last year, I have made same comparison samples of yester-years black and white photography, with todays colour and HDR, or tone mapped photography. Below are side by side, or rather top and bottom comparisons, of the two distinctly different approaches to the art of photography. For me, it shows the power of black and white, which relies on shape and contrast, so much, to convey it's story, which can be so much more powerful than colour. Yet, for me, I also know that I am still much more comfortable working in colour, which for all the extra detail that it provides, lacks that powerful raw emotional power of black and white.
